About the project
Where nature moves you
In the heart of Utrecht, SportCity finds its home in Wonderwoods, a vertical forest where 365 trees and over 75,000 shrubs and bushes climb toward the skyline. We wanted the interior design of SportCity to reflect the architecture outside of this so called 'Vertical Forest' by Stefano Boeri Architetti and MVSA Architects.
We are very proud to say that we have desigend nearly all SportCity locations across the Netherlands.

Green at heart
The concept Urban Roots merges the rawness of the building with layers of nature. By carving into the concrete, the design symbolically allows biophilic elements to grow through the concrete structure in the interior design.
Rather than hiding the building’s structure, the design works with it. Solid surfaces are opened up and layered with natural materials, creating moments where greenery and daylight appear to grow through the architecture.
This dialogue between strength and softness reflects the essence of the gym itself: a place where resilience, movement and wellbeing come together.
The result is a space that feels both powerful and restorative. An urban environment rooted in nature, designed to support focus, energy and balance.
